Jed Bricker

Coach

Hybrid strength and conditioning coach with a background in wrestling, cheer, MMA, and Olympic lifting—Jed brings high energy, expert coaching, and humor to every class.

By day, Jed Bricker is a real estate renegade, building houses and snatching up rental properties across Austin like a Monopoly mogul with a hardhat. But when the sun dips below the horizon and the East Austin Athletic Club comes alive, he trades blueprints for barbells and becomes the high-energy hype man of Ignite, Ascend, and Physique classes.

Hailing from the concrete jungle of Brooklyn, NY, Jed was forged in the fires of the Brooklyn Tech Wrestling team, where he clinched a city championship with a grip that could crush a bodega bagel. He then sauntered to the preppier pastures of The Trinity-Pawling School, where he captained both the football and wrestling teams for the Pride of the Fighting Gentlemen, and continued his grappling dominance all the way to the National Championships. In college, Jed traded takedowns for toe touches at Louisiana State University, becoming a member of the university’s esteemed Cheerleading team. It was here that he learned Olympic lifting from strength coaches so elite they could probably clean and jerk a live tiger. Geaux Tigers, indeed.

Fast forward to life in Austin, Jed has coached all around town, including at Eastside Austin Elite gym (RIP), where he not only coached CrossFit but also slung kicks and fists in MMA and kickboxing classes, Jed’s no stranger to throwing punches—or pulling them when his athletes need a breather. Today, Jed’s approach to “Clubbing” still involves loud music and throngs of sweaty people, but also adds a unique coaching style best described as “enthusiastically bossy with a side of mobility shaming” and a philosophy as bold as a double shot of espresso: workouts should be the best part of your day.

Whether you're facing the fiery gauntlet of Ignite, the balanced brutality of Ascend, or the pump-tastic paradise of Physique, Jed will be there to cheer you on, critique your form, and subtly rewrite the day’s workout to match whatever mood he’s in. His regulars roll their eyes (and their hips) as he swaps out prescribed workouts for his own spicy concoctions. It's a running joke. Mostly.

When he’s not barking cues over the clank of weights, Jed is a man of many passions. Currently in his “pastry era”, Jed loves to reward himself after a hard workout with a trip to Quack’s Bakery. But it’s not all about crunches and counting calories for Coach Jed, he’s also a history geek who will school you on the Carolingian Renaissance mid-squat and is a sucker for epic architecture who sees your biceps as Byzantine Basilica buttresses, and thinks skipping leg day will have you looking like the Leaning Tower of Pisa. On top of that, he loves the outdoors, seeking waterfalls and mountaintops alike all while dodging direct sunlight like a vampire in short shorts.

So, whether you’re chasing a PR, a post-workout De Nada marg, or just a reason to laugh through a burpee, Jed’s your guy. He’s the coach who’ll make you love the grind, hate the foam roller, and maybe even join him for a pint at Central Machine Works when the WOD is done.
